Mumbai Mazhya Priya Rande

This is a city of stark inequalities where rich upper caste people occupy most space but the working class and lower caste communities live in ghettos and poor living conditions, live on the margins. We wanted to bring forth this contradiction through an art form of literature and poetry. This form of art is of extremely significant to the Dalit movement in Maharashtra. The film is shot in various areas of Mumbai like Mankhurd, Chembur, Kandivali, South Mumbai etc. Through the visuals and poems in the film the film showcases Dalit poets’ viewpoint and perspective of looking at the city of Mumbai which stands aside when compared to other literature which has been written about Mumbai.
